Genocide In Darfur (Link)
The genocide in Darfur began in 1989 when General Omar Bashir took control of Sudan by military coup. Darfur began to receive a bunch of weapons and conflicts between African farmers and nomadic Arab tribes increased. Two rebel movements were formed to complain to the Sudanese government so the Sudanese government formed the Janjaweed. The Janjaweed attacked hundreds of villages throughout Darfur. Over 400 were destroyed and millions of people left homeless/forced to flee their homes. This is an ongoing genocide that is yet to be resolved.
The Genocide in Darfur connects to the book because in the book Jews are being taken from their homes and forced to go to concentration camps or forced out of their homes in fear of being taken away like the African farmers in Darfur. Not only are they being taken away and forced out of their homes they are also being executed just like in the book. Echoing the fear Jews felt and the fear African farmers feel now.

Neo-Nazism
Neo-Nazism is a growing post World War II social/political movement. The Neo Nazi's are seeking to revive Nazism. They borrow elements from the Nazi doctrine including militant nationalism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and antisemitism. In the media below it talks about the murder of an American Neo Nazi. He was mudered by his ten year old son. It also talks about the how the lifestyle of the family of the victim could of affected the boys decision to kill his father because the Neo Nazi lifestyle doesn't exactly discourage violence. Overall. talking a lot about the lifestyle of the Neo Nazi's, what they believe in, and how it effects people.
This connects to the book because the Neo-Nazism movement connects directly to the Nazi movement that was going on during the book. Not only is the Neo Nazi movement growing like the original Nazi movement but it is also enforcing their beliefs. They are not going to extremes like in the book with concentration camps because they don't have numbers for that but they are resorting to killing what they don't believe is superior. The book is closely connected that it's hard to believe that this is a present issue.
